My name is Amaya Johnson. While visiting Charleston, SC for travel nursing, I was the victim of an assault that led to the heartbreaking loss of my twin baby girls. On September 6th, I was made aware of my daughters fetal demise. Since then, I have been in Charleston, laboring and delivering them at MUSC, far away from my home and family in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
I have devoted my life to helping others. Before working in the ER, where I now spend my days saving lives and caring for those in crisis, I served overseas in Okinawa, Japan, at Kadena Air Base. There, I worked at the Military Treatment Facility (MTF), supporting and aiding our troops and their families. Giving of myself to others has always been my calling — but today, I find myself in a position where I need the same compassion and support I’ve spent years offering to others.
This tragedy has turned my world upside down. Along with navigating my own recovery, I am still caring for my child who traveled here with me. Despite the deep grief and physical toll, I remain committed to being strong for my family.
I am requesting support to help cover the funeral expenses for my girls, including the cost of their urns. I will also be pursuing an autopsy to aid in the ongoing assault investigation. My goal is to raise $2,000 so that I can honor them properly and lay them to rest with dignity.
Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to me and my family during this devastating time. If you are unable to give, sharing this fundraiser would also be a huge blessing.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love, prayers, and support as we grieve the loss of my twin girls.
