My heart is broken. Less than a year after burying my children’s grandfather, I am now faced with the sudden loss of my beloved husband, Jerome (known to many as Jake or Jerry) Hampton. He passed away unexpectedly, leaving me and our family in shock and grief.

Jerome was my partner for 36 years, and this September we would have celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary. He was more than just a husband to me—he was a devoted father of seven, a proud grandfather, a son, a brother, and a friend who touched so many lives with his kindness and love.

He worked hard every day of his life to take care of our family of nine. He was the main provider, and even when life dealt him hardships, including his job of almost 30 years going bankrupt and closing their doors for good without notice, Jerome was devastated, but never stopped giving, never stopped caring, and never stopped trusting God.

Now, with his passing, I am left not only grieving the man who was my everything but also struggling with the burden of giving him the proper burial he deserves. My children and I want nothing more than to honor him with dignity, as he lived his life with love and sacrifice for us all.
