My name is Annette Staten, and I am raising funds for my son Michael. Michael was a smart, caring person who always put his family first. He was a devoted father to two young men, a loving grandfather to a granddaughter with another grandchild on the way, and someone who cared deeply for his family and even for dogs. Michael’s kindness and compassion touched everyone who knew him. He had recently become a Muslim, and his faith was important to him.

On February 13, 2026, our family was devastated to learn that Michael was killed in prison. His death was a complete shock, and we are still trying to come to terms with this loss. Michael was an organ donor, and even in his passing, he saved the life of a 17-year-old by donating his heart. This act of generosity is a testament to the kind of person he was—always thinking of others, even in the most difficult circumstances. My son will leave on through somebody else.

We want to honor Michael’s memory by giving him the proper burial he deserves. The funds raised will go directly toward his funeral expenses, helping us ensure he is laid to rest with dignity and respect.
