Help Lay Matyes to Rest

Rest In Peace Matyes
In our deepest grief and unimaginable sorrow, we ask you all to join us in honoring a life that ended far too soon, the life of a young man who was loved beyond measure, Matyes Getachew deceased on May 2nd, 2025 at the young age of 26 years old, whose absence now echoes in the hearts of all who knew him.
There are no words that can fully capture the loss of a child. To say he was “taken too soon” feels almost hollow in the weight of what has been lost. He was a son, a brother, a light to his family. His laughter, his spirit, his presence, all abruptly taken from this world. And although his time was short, the love he gave and the joy he brought were immeasurable.
To his mother, no one should ever have to know this pain. No parent should have to bury their child. There is a sorrow carved into a mother’s soul when she outlives the child she once held in her arms, comforted through life, and guided through this world. A bond, heart and love unlike any other, and now, that same heart carries a silence where her son once was. It is a silence that speaks of love so great, its absence breaking her world in half.
She carried him into life, and now she carries him into memory. Every step from this day forward will be walked with the ache of that absence. And yet, somehow, in the way that only a mother can, she will carry his love forward through every breath, every prayer, every heartbeat.
To his siblings and all that knew him, his memory lives in each of you. In your shared stories, in the way he made you laugh, in the way he protected you, and even in the little ways he drove you crazy. Though he is no longer here in body, his soul remains a part of your foundation, and you were a part of his life story. He will live in the way you show kindness, the way you stand for one another, and the way you speak his name with pride and tenderness.
As a family who believes in God we put our hope and trust in him and believe in His plans for our family moving forward from this loss. His spirit remains a part of us until we reunite in heaven with our father.
Grief like this changes us. It alters the shape of our world. But in the middle of our pain, we must remember that love does not end, it transforms. And while we may not see him again in this life, we carry his spirit. We carry his dreams, his laughter, and his name in our hearts.
May we never forget him. We ask you to open up your hearts and demonstrate your support by providing aid to ensure he is given a proper burial. We thank you in advance for your assistance in laying him to rest.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose."
We choose to put our trust in God during these times.
Thank you for your support and prayers.
-The Getachew/Yohanes family.

We will update the description in the GoFund me with regards to the funeral dates. Matyes passed suddenly out of state. We are still seeking more information and ask for privacy as we make arrangements.
