Help Lay Martin Montijo to Rest

Donation protected
Unfortunately, on December 22nd, 2025, we received a call that Martin Montijo was found by the Escondido police department with another gentleman, both unresponsive. CPR was performed on site and at the hospital, but sadly, Martin did not survive. The other person with Martin did, but we are not aware of who this person is or their current condition. The situation is still under investigation, as it is believed drugs were involved and both men were laced.

Martin was part of the homeless community in Escondido for several years. I am the mother of his three children. Although we were separated and never legally married, I stayed in contact with him. Martin was the father of three amazing children: Donovan, Jewelia, and our 18-year-old Brooklynn. He was the youngest sibling of five and had a great love for music, always keeping a guitar strapped to his back. Martin was an extremely hard worker despite his condition, always seeking work and offering to help others. He could be stubborn at times, but he was sweet and loving, and his children were his pride and joy. Those in the Escondido community nicknamed him "Cowboy" because he would walk around with his guitar and wear a black cowboy hat.

My son lives in Ohio and hasn't been able to see his father in a few years. He is flying out here to hopefully make arrangements, say goodbye to his dad, and put him to rest. My daughters also want the opportunity to say goodbye. We are a low-income family, so we are seeking help from our community, family, and friends. Please help us put our loved one to rest and bring us some closure.
