It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved Lionell, affectionately known as Choo, at just 36 years old.
Lionell bravely battled diabetes and renal failure for several years. He had recently been added to the kidney transplant list and was holding on to hope for a better future. Sadly, he passed away at home on New Year’s Eve shortly after dialysis.
Choo had a deep love for anything with a motor—fast cars, fixing engines, watches, tractors—and he also loved horses and the simple joys of life. He was a true foodie at heart and loved good food, even though enjoying it became increasingly difficult over the last several years due to serious GI issues. Despite his challenges, his love for life and the things that brought him joy never left him.
Above all, Choo loved his family. He was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, and a loyal friend to many. If you had the privilege of letting him love you and stand by your side, you had one of the most amazing people in your corner. He was respectful, protective, and would give the shirt off his back to make sure you felt safe. He loved with every fiber of his being.
He had a heart of gold and a playful spirit, always poking fun at his momma, sister, and nieces in the most loving way.
He is survived by his mother, Billye, who has been hospitalized for much of 2025 and is currently in the ICU. Our family is praying she will be strong enough to attend her son’s funeral.
After years of illness, Choo is no longer suffering—but his absence leaves an immeasurable hole in our hearts.
Our family is facing this loss while also facing financial hardship. We are humbly asking for help to cover funeral and burial expenses so we can lay Lionell to rest with the dignity and peace he deserves.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease this burden. If you’re unable to give, we ask that you please share this fundraiser and keep our family in your prayers.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
