Leilani Maya Bear tragically passed away unexpectedly and suddenly this past Friday morning around 7:15 am she was called back home to heaven. I have very little information to share about the manner out of respect for her life and our family’s privacy.

My daughter Lani (who we all referred to as MyLani) lived with the autism spectrum as well as Hypothyroidism. She was non speaking or non verbal with global delays across developmental norms growing up. She kept growing up but words never came so with time and work I eventually accepted that with unconditional love and kindness. Radical Acceptance of her in all the forms she presented in during her short sweet 16 years. She was what they call an “old soul” or “forever young”

MyLani was a survivor of many challenges only I have witnessed as her mother.

That’s between her and I and God.

I am currently in grief and intense shock at the loss of my daughter, Leilani Bear. At the time of her death she was under the supervision of her father Aren in the city of Reno,Nevada.

Since Leilani Bear is a legal resident of California there are fees to transport the sacred remains of Leilani’s body across the state line of Nevada back to California. It’s a delicate situation that requires financial support from my friends and community. My entire family is at a loss with grief as is The Crandall Bear family. (Leilani’s father’s side)
