Larry is raising this fundraiser for his nephew, Kevin Stevens, after a heartbreaking tragedy no family should have to face. In April, Kevin lost his mother, Larry’s sister. Wanting to honor his mom’s dying wish, Kevin had entered a 90-day program to turn his life around. He had just reached 45 days and called Larry to proudly share his progress and his victory. By the next morning, on Kevin’s birthday, the family received a devastating call from the Bakersfield Sheriff’s Department. Kevin had been sitting on a bench when a vehicle fleeing a high-speed police chase lost control and struck him. In a moment, a young man who was trying to make things right and move forward was taken far too soon.

This fundraiser is to help cover Kevin’s funeral expenses, which are overwhelming during a time of such deep grief. Larry is still carrying debt from his sister’s unexpected passing just four months ago, and now the family is facing another painful loss so soon after the last.
