Over the weekend, my brother and sister have been struck with the unexpected loss of their father, my stepfather, Jeremy G. Merta.

Due to this being so sudden and unexpected, my siblings now have the cost of laying their dad to rest all while still processing such a loss. Any help anyone can give for the cause is greatly appreciated.

Jeremy George Merta, 47, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Riverton. He was born October 14, 1977, in Wayne, Michigan to Gerald Chester Merta and Susanne Witt.

Jeremy spent his entire life in Riverton, Wyoming, where he graduated from Riverton High School. A hard worker throughout his life, he held various positions in the oilfield including driller for Nucor Drilling, Stallion, Unit Drilling, and Nabors.

On February 14, 2002, Jeremy married Tracy Pulver in Riverton. Together the couple had two children, Jeremy and Rylie.

Jeremy had a passion for working with his hands rebuilding cars and trucks. He enjoyed competing in the Fremont County Derby, as well as spending time outdoors—fishing, camping, and gathering at barbecues with friends and family.

One of his favorite hobbies was Native American beadwork, he created intricate and meaningful pieces that reflected deep appreciation for the craft and its cultural heritage.

His family will remember and deeply miss his smile, his goofiness, his wild and fun-loving spirit, and above all, his kind and generous heart.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Merta of Riverton; daughter, Rylie Merta of Riverton; and stepdaughter, Brandy Lane of Arkansas; former spouse and mother of his children, Tracy Pulver of Arkansas; sister, Tricia Ruth Merta of Riverton; aunt, Patricia Miles of Riverton; and nephews, Jordan Hatch, Preston Nelson, and Joseph Hatch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald C. Merta and Susanne Witt.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date.
