A Mother’s Plea – Help Me Lay My Son Devante to Rest

My name is Shanna, and I’m writing this with a heart that no mother should ever have to carry. On a day that should have been ordinary, my son Devante was tragically taken from us due to a senseless act of domestic violence.

Devante was simply being a father—bringing pampers to his friend he once dated for her son; who he was actively involved in his life. But instead of being met with gratitude, he was confronted by the child’s estranged mother, who was overcome with jealousy at the thought of him moving on. She had stabbed him once before. And this time, in a violent act of rage, she took his life.

Now, I’m left without my son. And his two children, Da’Niyah (10) and Damarion (9), are left without their father. The baby has been placed in child protective services because the mother admitted she no longer wanted the baby once Devante was gone.

I never imagined I’d be in this position—having to plan a funeral for my child. I am asking for your help to raise $5,000 so we can give Devante the proper burial he deserves. My son was not just another statistic. He was a kind, hardworking man who loved his children deeply and showed up for them even when it wasn’t easy.
