GOAL DEADLINE: 1/8/2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Delia “Freddy” Torres Villaverde, passed away just four days after her 89th birthday. She lived a long life marked by humility, generosity, and quiet strength. Nana Freddy was the kind of woman who never complained, even when life was hard, and never hesitated to help someone else—often giving more than she had. She cared for children, opened her home to family and friends, cooked for everyone, and made people feel safe and welcomed wherever she went. Many who knew her have said, “They don’t make ladies like her anymore…” and those who knew her can testify it is undeniably true.
In her later years, Freddy lived with Alzheimer’s and dementia, which slowly took pieces of her memory but never her kindness. Even when she no longer recognized us, she would smile, laugh, and greet us with warmth once reminded. She loved sewing, creating costumes and clothing by hand, coloring intricate drawings, and admiring birds—especially in soft shades of peach and yellow. She was deeply loved by her family and community, and the outpouring of grief and support we have seen reflects just how many lives she touched.
Our Nana Freddy was devoutly Catholic and she made it clear she wanted to be laid to rest with a proper burial and funeral service. Unfortunately, funeral and burial costs are very high, and our family does not have the financial means to cover these expenses at this time. All funds raised here will go directly toward burial expenses, funeral home services, and ceremonial costs so we can honor her life in the way she asked for and deserves. Any support—whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping our family in your prayers—means more to us than we can put into words. Helping us lay our Nana Freddy to rest with dignity is a way of honoring a woman who spent her entire life giving to others. Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for helping us carry her legacy forward.
