My name is Portia, and I am raising funds to honor my baby brother, David Butler. David had a tough exterior but a big heart, and even though he often kept to himself, he always wanted to help others when he could. Life was not always easy for David, especially after we lost our dad many years ago and our mama just last year. Losing our mother was especially hard on him, and he became even more of a loner, struggling to find his footing. Despite our differences and not always being close, he was my brother, and I love him deeply.
David was found passed away in his home on November 6th. When he was found, it looked as though he had simply been sitting there watching TV and passed away in his sleep, with the remote beside him. He had been there for some time before being discovered. We are still waiting to learn the cause, but what we do know is that he had no life insurance coverage. Our mother had a policy for him for many years, but after she passed, the policy was cancelled and his application for a new one was denied. I only learned this when I tried to make a claim after his passing. Now, my family and I are left to cover the funeral and burial expenses ourselves. Financially, I am unable to pay for these costs, and our other brother and David’s son are not able to help due to their own circumstances. David wished to be buried near our mama at Pine Hill Cemetery in Graham, NC, and I want to honor that wish.
I am asking for help to give David the funeral and burial he deserves. Donations will go directly toward his funeral service and burial expenses. If you are not able to donate, please keep our family in your prayers during this difficult time. God was ready for him, even though we were not, and any support—whether financial or spiritual—is deeply appreciated.
