Ava Gail Jones was the kind of woman you couldn’t forget. She was joyful, adventurous, always laughing, and never afraid to say “I love you”. Her greatest joy was being a mother. She always talked about looking forward to "dressing up with my daughter & walking around town" and playing with her, but her doctors told her even something so simple would require too much energy... this broke her heart, but it didn’t dim her spirit.
At the beginning of August 2025 , Ava was told that she needed to act quickly to get a heart transplant or pacemaker which was her only chance “if she wanted to see her daughter grow up”. The news devastated her, but she was determined to fight. Even as her body grew weaker, her eyes still lit up at her daughter’s smile and her son’s touch. She wanted nothing more than to be here for them.
Unfortunately living in a developing country with limited technology and financial resources meant her options were painfully limited & before she could get the help she needed, her time ran out...
Ava fainted & passed away suddenly in her son's arms on August 23, 2025 at the young age of 38 from severe heart failure, she leaves behind her 18 year old son and her baby girl who turns two today August 26, 2025.
We are raising funds to:
Cover funeral and burial expenses in Jamaica
Provide at least one year of childcare, food, and nanny support for her infant daughter
Ease the burden on our family as we work together to raise her children and honor the life she left behind
This loss comes less than three years after my grandmother buried her son, and the weight on our family emotionally and financially is incredibly heavy. Still, our focus & determination is on ensuring Ava’s children are loved, protected, and given the chance at a stable future that she wanted for them.
My name is Nevanna, Ava’s niece. To me, she was not only an aunt but like a sister, and at times, a second mother when my own was away serving in the U.S. military. I am organizing this fundraiser because Ava gave us so much love in life, and now we are determined to give that same love and security to her children.
Your donations will directly support laying Ava to rest and caring for her children, especially her baby girl, who is too young to remember her mother but will always feel her legacy through the family who loved her very deeply.
Even if you cannot donate, a repost & share of this campaign means the world to us. Every act of kindness brings hope to her children’s future.
– With love, Nevanna & Family
