Thursday5-8 Carnes Brothers Funeral Home Galveston
Donation protected
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated or supported in any way — it truly means a lot during this time. I’ve been doing most of this on my own, and it’s been emotionally and financially overwhelming.
The funeral cost came out to $11,000, and so far I’ve raised $775 through GoFundMe. The rest I’ve managed to come up with on my own.
I’m still about $1,000 short from covering everything fully. If anyone is able and willing to help or share the fundraiser, it would really help me close that final gap and take a huge weight off my shoulders.
Thank you again to those who have already given — I appreciate you more than you know.
In Loving Memory of My Father
If you’ve ever spent time in Galveston, TX, chances are you’ve met my dad — or at the very least, heard stories about him.
He was a hardworking, kind, and unforgettable man. Everyone knew him from his regular stops at Kroger, Home Depot, and his favorite — The Spot. He had a way of connecting with people, and he made friends wherever he went. If you saw him once, you remembered him for life.
He worked hard every single day of his life to take care of his family and help others — and he never asked for anything in return. He was truly loved by everyone on the island.
When he passed, I faced a painful and unexpected legal battle over his remains. At one point, there wasn’t even going to be a memorial. But I couldn’t let that happen. I stepped in and fought to give my father the respect and rest he deserved. After a difficult legal process, I was finally granted the right to lay him to rest here in Galveston, where he belongs — not to be cremated, but buried with dignity.
Unfortunately, the legal fees and burial costs have placed a huge burden on me, and that’s why I’m starting this fundraiser.
️ What the Funds Will Cover:
• Burial and memorial costs
• Legal expenses from the dispute over his body
• Any remaining fees related to honoring his final wishes
Anything you can give — whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this page — helps tremendously. If my father ever touched your life, made you smile, or just reminded you of the kind of man we all hope to be — please consider supporting.
This isn’t just about money. It’s about doing what’s right for a man who gave everything to others, and asking this amazing community to help me now that he can no longer speak for himself.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With love and gratitude,
