My mom was 67 years old when she passed away this morning. She was the proud mother of two, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of eight (almost nine!). Because of medical reasons, she was never able to get life insurance, which has left our family struggling to cover the costs of her burial. My mom was truly loved by everyone in the Lower East Side—from the Hill to Baruch to the Ave. She was well known and cherished by all who met her, and her kindness touched so many lives in our community.
Right now, my family and I are facing the heartbreaking reality of not having the funds to lay her to rest. Every dollar raised will go directly to funeral and memorial expenses—none will be used for personal needs. I just want to give my mom the dignified farewell she deserves, without the added stress and struggle. My grandmother, who is 101 years old, is also grieving, and I want to spare her any additional worry during this difficult time.
If you knew my mom or have ever been touched by her warmth, please consider helping us. Your support, no matter the amount, will mean the world to our family. Thank you for reading and for being part of our community.
