Help Laurence Rebuild His Life After Eaton Fire

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of my dear friend, Laurence, and to ask for your support during one of the most challenging times in his life.

Laurence, a longtime resident of Altadena, has been part of our community for 13 years. This is his home—he grew up here, works here, and has always been a vibrant presence in our neighborhood. If you’ve ever been around Lake Avenue, chances are you’ve seen him during his daily walks, spreading kindness and positivity wherever he goes.

Laurence is truly one of the most generous, compassionate, and uplifting people I’ve ever had the privilege to know. When I first started my first business, he was the very first person to support me as a customer. That’s just who Laurence is—always showing up for his friends, always lending a helping hand, and always spreading encouragement and love.

Sadly, on January 7th, Laurence’s life was turned upside down. The Eaton Fire tore through his neighborhood, forcing him to evacuate with nothing but the clothes on his back. His home of 13 years, filled with memories and the comforts of a life well-lived, was reduced to ashes.

To make matters worse, Laurence doesn’t qualify for FEMA assistance because he was renting. Right now, he’s facing the daunting task of rebuilding his life from scratch—finding new housing and replacing even the most basic necessities.

This is why I’m asking for your help. I’m raising funds to support Laurence as he begins to rebuild his life. Every dollar raised will go directly to him, helping him secure a safe place to live, buy essential items, and regain some stability in the aftermath of this tragedy.

Laurence has always been the first to step up for others in need, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Let’s come together as a community to lift him up, just as he’s lifted so many of us with his kindness and unwavering support.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation, sharing this campaign with others, or simply keeping Laurence in your thoughts during this difficult time.

With love and gratitude,
Joy (and Laurence)
