For years, Lawrence Ford has been courageously battling kidney disease. What many people don’t see behind the scenes are the countless dialysis treatments, the physical exhaustion, the emotional toll, and the constant adjustments required just to maintain some sense of normalcy. Through it all, Lawrence has remained hardworking, kind, and determined to keep pushing forward.
On March 10, 2026, Lawrence will receive a kidney transplant — a life-changing opportunity and a true second chance at health. This transplant represents hope, freedom from the grueling dialysis schedule, and the possibility of reclaiming the life kidney disease has slowly taken from him.
However, while the transplant is a blessing, the recovery process will not be easy.
After surgery, Lawrence will need significant time to heal. The first few months are critical and will require frequent medical appointments, strict medication schedules, careful monitoring for signs of rejection, and a great deal of rest. During this time, he will be unable to work. Unfortunately, he does not qualify for FMLA, which means he will not have income while recovering.
Even as he focuses on healing, life’s responsibilities don’t pause.
Lawrence will still need to cover:
• Rent and utilities
• Groceries and household essentials
• Transportation to and from medical appointments
• Anti-rejection medications and other prescriptions
• Post-surgery medical expenses
The financial strain during recovery is overwhelming, and the last thing Lawrence should have to worry about is how he’ll keep a roof over his head or afford the medication that protects his new kidney.
This fundraiser is being created to give Lawrence the peace of mind he deserves during this critical time. Our goal is to ease the financial burden so he can focus fully on healing, regaining his strength, and embracing this new chapter of life.
If you are able, please consider donating. No amount is too small — every contribution makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this page with your friends, family, and community would mean just as much.
Lawrence has fought long and hard for this second chance. Let’s come together to support him as he takes this courageous step forward.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers during this life-changing journey.
With gratitude,
Shanelle Ford
