Hello and thank you for taking the time to read about me and my situation.
My name is Lauryn and I am a graduate student finishing my first of two years at Sacramento State. I returned to school to get a master's degree in Social Work after 5 years of serving the Greater Sacramento community as a youth and family-focused mental health worker. Prior to leaving my full time job to pursue this degree, I prepared quite a bit, particularly with savings, but I've recently learned the hard way that most of us are one emergency away from facing a crisis.
At the beginning of the year, I experienced an unexpected family emergency that took a chunk out of my savings. Even with two jobs and a student loan, the expenses are beginning to overwhelm me and I'm fearful that I am rapidly approaching homelessness.
I have applied for multiple scholarships and am seeking a third job. However, I also have to be realistic about my ability to balance my time as a student, so from a very humbled heart, I am requesting your consideration in helping me cover two months of expenses (rent and car) so that I can complete this semester. My intention is to keep it at two months because I intend to work more over the summer.
I appreciate you taking the time to understand my circumstances and I'm grateful for any ounce of support. It ensures that I can return the favor tenfold when I obtain this degree.
With gratitude,
Lauryn
