Assalomu alaykum dear sisters,

Today, we want to share the story of someone who has quietly carried our community on her shoulders for years — our beloved Sister Lauren. Many of you know her as the gentle, smiling face at our Islamic school UAP, where she has faithfully taught our children for over 15 years. Others know her as the heart of our masjid’s Ramadan team — the sister who sacrifices her nights so that parents can pray Taraweeh with peace.

Every Ramadan, while we worship, she watches over nearly 90 children, making sure they are safe, loved, and cared for. She never complains. She never asks for anything in return. She gives, and gives, and gives — seeking only Allah’s pleasure.

But today… she is the one who needs us.

Sister Lauren is a single mother of two boys, working full-time while dealing with health issues. She receives no child support. She pays for her son’s school on her own. Her washer and dryer have broken down, bills have stacked up, and even basic groceries have become difficult.

She has debt that is piling up — yet she never once asked for help. She was ashamed even to let anyone know she was struggling. This is the same sister who donates whenever she can, who volunteers without hesitation, who shows up for everyone else.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Allah is in the aid of His servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother.”

Now it’s our turn. Our opportunity. Our sadaqah jariyah.

Our chance to be the hands Allah uses to lift a believer’s hardship.

She has carried our children.

She has carried our community.

She has carried the ummah in the quietest, most selfless ways.

This is the moment we show up for her and show our love in any way possible.
