My sister and I are raising money for our mom, Laurie Stimpson. Our mother was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and is currently home on hospice and unable to work at this time. The money raised will go to pay for monthly expenses and alternative medical care.

Background Information:

In February 2023 our mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. This diagnosis came as a complete shock in realizing this would be her 3rd time battling cancer. Our mom's journey with cancer began in 2006 when she was first diagnosed with cervical cancer. She had a successful surgery and although everything seemed to be going well, in 2011 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer again, this time far more aggressive. The fight to save her life in 2011 was long, hard and debilitating but she remained strong and determined and made it through. Fast forward to February of last year, our entire world came crashing down upon learning of yet another cancer diagnosis and yet another long and hard fight our mom would have to face.

Treatment began almost immediately and at first things were going very well. Not long after treatment began our mom began having pain in her abdomen area and after months of doctors not being able to figure out what was causing the pain, they discovered she had an infection in her abdominal area. The doctors determined the infection was caused by a combination of internal damage from the previous cancer treatment and the weakening of her immune system from the breast cancer and cancer treatment she was currently undergoing. The doctors had no other choice but to put a hold on the cancer treatment to properly treat the abdominal infection.

This June, 2024 our mom began experiencing increased pain in her upper back/shoulder area. After meeting with her doctor we were informed that the cancer had spread and the tumor(s) on her bones had increased in size. The decision was made to admit her and begin radiation immediately in hopes of shrinking the tumor. After a week of radiation additional scans were performed and the doctors found that the tumor was pressing on her spinal cord, causing loss of feeling in her legs and informed us there was nothing left they could do for her. On July 3rd our mom was sent home with hospice care.

My dad, sister and I along with friends are working with hospice in the daily care of our mom. She is grateful to be in her home and surrounded by the love of family and friends and is now pursuing healing through alternative methods. As many of you know with the work she does, this form of healing feels right for her. She is dedicating herself to healing through alternative supplements and spiritual practices.

As our mom is unable to work right now we are asking for help to ease some of the financial stress and looking to raise money to cover monthly household bills and alternative treatment options. Anyone who knows my mom knows that she is a genuinely amazing soul who has helped so many people in her lifetime.
