Help Laurie Kick Cancer's Ass!

Donation protected
Just before Christmas last year, my mom Laurie went to the doctor for her annual checkup and a lump was discovered on her scan. The lump was relatively small in size, so her doctors were encouraged that it had been caught early and could be effectively treated. However, after additional testing and a biopsy, her doctors determined that the cancer had already spread to a large number of lymph nodes and surrounding tissue. In light of this new information, she was diagnosed with Stage IIIC Breast Cancer.

Over the past few months, she has already endured three surgeries. The first two surgeries were to remove the cancerous lump, tissue, and lymph nodes. While her doctors feel confident that they were able to get all of the cancerous tissue that can be removed via surgery, there are still microscopic cancer cells in her body that need to be destroyed. Therefore, a third surgery was needed to install an access port into her chest, so they can begin administering chemotherapy drugs directly into her bloodstream.

Beginning next week for the next four months, she will be undergoing chemotherapy treatments with an additional six weeks of radiation therapy following. She has a long battle ahead of her, one that will be met with a list of horrible possible side effects and the loss of her hair.

Almost five years ago, my mom retired after 36 years in the grocery industry to become a full-time grandmother  to my first-born child. As a retiree she as been living on a fixed income and although she has health insurance through her former employer, it sadly offers very minimal coverage on cancer treatments. Any funds raised here will be used to aid my mom in paying for the huge medical bills already hitting her mailbox and all the expensive treatments yet to come.

If you know my mom, then you know her to be the type of person who always puts the needs of others before her own. A person who can't help being thoughtful in whatever she does. Someone who has a kind and caring heart for all of those she meets. She is an amazing person who has done nothing but take care of others her whole life, and has never asked for anything in return. She would never even think to ask for anything even now in a moment of need, which is why I am writing this today. For everything she has done for me and everything she has ever done for any of you, please help and support her through this most difficult and terrifying journey.

We thankfully welcome any amount and if you are unable to give, please share!
