Help Laurie in Her Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, colleagues, and extended community,
My name is Savannah, and I’m writing to you with a heavy heart to share that my mother, Laurie, has recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A few months ago, she began to develop mild abdominal discomfort. When the pain began to worsen, she was ordered scans and blood work in the ER which led to the life shattering news.
This news has turned our lives upside down, and we are facing a challenging journey ahead. She is to begin her first round of chemotherapy at Princess Margaret Hospital on September 30th. Her care team is hopeful that the chemotherapy will shrink her tumor enough for a complex surgery known as the Whipple procedure, which involves removing part of the pancreas and surrounding tissues to improve her chances of recovery. After surgery, she will continue with additional chemotherapy. We will never have a definite answer as to how she developed this type of cancer seeing as she is otherwise an active and healthy person.
We are committed to exploring complementary treatments to support her immune system, reduce her pain and minimize the negative side effects of chemotherapy so that she can have the best outcome.
On a weekly basis Laurie will have appointments for:
1. IV Vitamin C & Mistletoe (twice weekly)
2. PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields)
3. Lymphatic Drainage
4. Acupuncture (bi-weekly)
5. Hyperbaric chamber/ozone therapy
6. Cupping (bi-weekly)
The total cost of these complementary supports will be approximately $53,000 for the next 12 months, $4,415 per month .
Any donations to this GoFundMe will go directly to the medical expenses to support my mom during her rounds of chemotherapy. Sharing this campaign with others would also be incredibly helpful. If you'd like to send Laurie an encouraging/comforting message you can do so at the email associated with this page. From the bottom of my heart on behalf of my family, thank you for your support during this challenging time❤️
