Help Laurie Build a Community Art Haven

Hi! My name is Laurie and I am passionate about so many things in life! I work as an artist and arts counselor for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and it is the most unbelievably rewarding “job” I’ve ever had. I also started a small but growing homestead with my partner, Coot, where we grow and preserve our own foods, create beautiful butterfly flower gardens, and raise Nigerian Drawf goats, Kunekune pigs and a variety of different breeds of chickens!

The purpose of starting this GoFundMe is to help raise funds to invest in a SheShed for the property! This creative space will be used to continue to infuse my artistic practice within pottery, stained glass, printmaking and historical photographic processes. But the best part about it will be to provide a teaching space to invite individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to learn and create, enjoy gardening practices, plant flowers and vegetables, learn how to make herbal salves and even how to make pickles and preserve fresh veggies! The space will be a center of joy, community, creativity and cultivation.

The photo I chose to use for this page is of me planting flowers with my beautiful nieces for their little backyard SheShed! It brought so much joy and beauty to our visit and to their sweet space!
