Hi, my name is Crystal and my mom, Laurie Bonfiglio, was diagnosed with cancer in her brain and lungs on 7/11/2024.

This is a day that our family will never forget. She was extremely sick and my Dad took her to the hospital figuring she had caught a bug.

We found out that she had two brain tumors, three on her lungs and potentially elsewhere.

She had brain surgery on 7/15/2024 to remove one tumor to send to pathology. The cancer is squamous cell carcinoma stage 4.

The doctors think the cancer started in her lungs but they are not sure. They will be doing more tests as the time goes on.

She has had to go on unpaid leave at work while she recovers from brain surgery and she will start radiation on August 6 with chemo to start shortly after.

My Dad is retired by disability and my mom was the main earner for the house. Between my mom's cancer treatments and her inability to work currently; they are stressing on how to make ends meet for the long road ahead.

At 62 years old my mom is still young and plans on fighting cancer! She has always been there for others and her laugh usually fills the place.
