We come to you today with hopeful hearts, asking for your support for an incredible woman—Lauri Johnson. A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend. Lauri is now in the fight for her life.

Lauri’s Story

Lauri’s medical journey began in 2001 when she was diagnosed with systemic lupus, a disease that turned her world upside down. Over the years, she had to redefine her life to accommodate her medical challenges—but she never let them define her. She found joy in the simple moments, grateful for every day she could spend with her loved ones. No matter the sacrifices, the reward of life was always worth it.

Through strength and perseverance, Lauri navigated the many obstacles lupus placed in her path, still managing to live a fulfilling life. That is, until now.

Lauri has now been diagnosed with a rare rheumatological form of COPD caused by lupus, a condition that has stolen her ability to breathe freely. Recent back-to-back hospital stays have caused a further decline in her health, leaving her with only one option: a double lung transplant at Duke University.

This transplant is Lauri’s only shot at survival. With new lungs, she will have the chance to watch her surrogate grand kids grow, to enjoy many more years with her family and friends, and simply breathe again. But the journey ahead is daunting, and she needs our help.

Why We Need Your Help

Lauri must relocate to the Durham, NC area for both pre- and post-transplant procedures, a necessary but incredibly costly move. Our goal is to raise $80,000 to help cover:

Medical bills and transplant expenses

Travel and temporary relocation costs in Durham

Post-surgery care and lifelong anti-rejection medications

There is no doubt that with her will, determination, and positive outlook, Lauri will succeed in finally getting that breath of fresh air she so desperately needs. But she can’t do it alone.
