Lauren is a single mother raising two elementary-age girls and an adult child while navigating COVID-19 pandemic-related job difficulties. She recently separated from her husband Jon and while they were the midst of working out a separation agreement, he died by suicide. As his legal survivor, she bears the cost of his funeral and ongoing cost-of-living expenses for their family. Her spouse left no insurance, savings, or other financial resources.
I met Lauren and a group of people through our local Tae Kwon Do studio and we all quickly became friends, helping each other navigate the loneliness and hardship of parenting during COVID-19. Lauren did not ask for help, but as her friends, we hope to relieve her of some of this financial burden. She will use the money to pay for funeral expenses and any extra will go toward monthly bills, food, and clothing for her kids. I know that things are difficult for everyone right now, but we would so appreciate your kindness and consideration—if not a donation, a good thought or a prayer would be a gift.
