Help Lauren Recover After a Life-Threatening Illness

We’re reaching out for help for our amazing sister, Lauren, a devoted single mom of two middle schoolers, who is now home after an intense hospital stay battling Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS)—a rare and life-threatening condition that changed everything in an instant.

What Happened?

A few weeks ago, Lauren suffered a severe reaction to medication that led to Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a rare condition that attacks the skin, eyes, and internal tissues. She was hospitalized for nearly two weeks, including three days in the ICU and two emergency eye procedures, and was unable to walk, see, or eat solid food over the course of her stay.

Thankfully, she is finally home, but her recovery is far from over. SJS is a long and unpredictable battle. She now requires ongoing medical care, specialist visits, expensive prescriptions, and continued monitoring of her skin, eyes, and overall health to prevent long-term complications.

Why We Need Your Help

Unfortunately, we don’t expect Medicaid to cover any additional costs. While she has met her insurance deductible, she is now facing an estimated $30,000 in medical expenses, in addition to regular bills and living costs. As an hourly employee, she has also missed weeks of work, making it even harder to stay afloat financially during this critical recovery period.

We’re asking for support to help cover:
