Help Baby Lauren Olivia Jay Karel

As many of you know and have been praying for, my daughter Brianna gave birth to Baby Lauren last week with an emergency C-section and soon after Baby Lauren had to be Life Flighted to Boise for proper care in their NICU unit. Lauren was not only born premature but with a cleft lip and a cleft palate and we are finding out now that this is going to be a long road for Baby Lauren to have a quality life. She will remain in NICU for an additional 1-3 weeks depending on how she responds. She will have to have a minimum of 3 major surgeries in the first year to 18 months of her life. Plus the possibility is great that she will have several others in her first few years to make sure her teeth are formed correctly, ENT surgery for her hearing and breathing, not to mention speech therapy and the list goes on. Brianna and Jay have insurance but as most of you know, insurance these days does not cover near enough.

Jay and Brianna were unable to have any children without IVF which was initially very expensive but is how we were able to have Beau! (Lauren’s Big Brother). They took every precaution, including testing to make sure Brianna was impregnated with the most desirable eggs both times. However Beau was also in NICU for a time and had issues but they were able to pay these expenses off in full before proceeding with Lauren. The estimates they are being given are between $50,000 and $100,000 out of pocket after insurance at a minimum. I’m sorry but it is hard for me to fathom being shackled with this much debt plus taking care of your family.
