Lauren and Mike Perira’s home and vehicle in Haleiwa, HI were recently caught in a devastating rainstorm and flood—the worst the area has seen in years. Like many in their community, they are facing the overwhelming task of cleaning up and trying to recover, all while shouldering the financial challenges that come with such a disaster. With no clean drinking water or water to shower, and their vehicle out of commission, they are currently renting a car just to get by.

Lauren and Mike have had to take time off work without pay to focus on cleanup and recovery. Every day brings new hurdles as they assess what needs to be repaired or replaced, and the costs continue to add up. The support of friends, family, and neighbors is more important than ever as they navigate this difficult time.
