Help a helper
We are asking the community to come together and help an individual who has been a helper herself for as long as we can remember.
Lauren Malanot, a Township of Washington native, has always been an active, hardworking and giving person. She is a Westwood High School Class of 2001 graduate, and anyone who has gotten to know her throughout is aware of how many lives she has impacted in such a positive way. In more recent years she has been raising her daughter as a single mother with little to no financial child support. She has worked multiple jobs to support their home and did so with a smile.
That all came to a stop in 2023, however, when she began a battle with fibromyalgia and Allodynia. Her symptoms became so severe that she needed the use of a wheelchair, and could no longer work. After a year of struggling with these chronic conditions, Lauren began to re-emerge slowly. Day by day she was getting a touch stronger and was able to join the workforce part time again. However, this past January, just when things started looking up, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Luckily, the cancer was caught very early during her routine mammogram. Following a biopsy the diagnosis was confirmed and with medical advice she has received a lumpectomy.
Post surgery, Lauren is undergoing 6 weeks of radiation, Monday through Friday, which will, once again, prevent Lauren from being able to work.
It’s been a long and stressful road of financial hardship due to her inability to work full time since 2023, and we have finally convinced her that it’s ok to ask for help in a time of need like this.
She has touched so many lives over the years, so we are asking you to please consider donating to Lauren and her daughter so that she can focus on getting better and have one less thing to worry about in the process. Any and all donations, no matter the amount is extremely appreciated.
