On Saturday, January 24 Plumber Tim Winnett (of Burleson) daughter Lauren was in the goat barn feeding goats on their family property near Brownwood and there was an explosion. Lauren was burned on 90% of her body in 3rd and 4th degree burns. Because of the ice storm, they could not use a helicopter so she was taken by ambulance to a burn unit in San Antonio where she has remained. Each day they do 5-8 hours of surgical debridement as much as she can handle. They are also beginning the skin graft process. Lauren remains sedated much of the time to control the pain, swelling, and monitor her vitals. She is going through pints and pints of blood. She was able to stand one day this weekend and is able to wiggle her fingers.
Assessment, treatment, and recovery will be a long, hard journey and is slowed by unstable blood pressure, bacterial infections, and other obstacles. Lauren is a fighter and is working hard to heal. We would like to raise funds to help offset costs of blood transfusions, medical care, living expenses, travel and lodging expenses, and anything else that may become necessary in this process. Please continue to pray for Plumber Tim, his wife Cynthia, and Lauren. Thank you all for your support.
