Hey everyone, I’m starting this because my best friend, Lauren, is one of the most resilient single moms I know, but right now she’s facing an absolute nightmare and she would never ask for help herself.

Lauren lives in an RV park here in Lake Charles, and the last two months have been incredibly hard on her after her work drastically cut everyone's hours. As I’m writing this, it is over 120 degrees inside her camper. All the groceries she scrambled to buy for her and her kids are completely spoiling in a dead fridge. Lauren is in tears, physically and mentally exhausted, and trapped in a dangerously overheating home.

What this landlord did isn't just cruel—it is 100% illegal. In Louisiana, a landlord cannot just cut off a tenant's utilities to bully them out, especially not in the dead of summer. Lauren is already looking into filing an emergency injunction in civil court to force him to turn the power back on, but she can't fight this bully alone.
