Hi, my name is Lauren and I am an animation student at California College of the Arts.

Earlier this year, I went no contact permanently with my abusers and those who enabled the abuse I endured since childhood. This trauma has affected and disabled me immensely in terms of cognition, memory, lack of life skills, connecting with others, career, finances, and has led me into other controlling, abusive relationships in the past that have added to the harm, because of this, I CANNOT live with family and I lack their support!!!

I need this support to afford food and basics, and have one more month to obtain my degree with current due charges of $2,652. My school’s financial aid has been slow in waiving this amount, and so far, there has been no response. I am currently unemployed and had to relocate due to my emergency. I have been attending CCA for five years, including an extra gap year due to lack of support and severe mental health conditions. The money will go towards basics like food, tuition, post-college expenses, housing, loans, or current emergencies. It would be a shame to see my education path go to waste because it has taken immense energy, with two leaves of absence, just to obtain a degree for future work.
