About ten days ago, our world was turned upside down when our two German shepherds, Moose and Chomper, got into a sudden and serious fight. Moose is 4 and Chomper is 5, and they had lived together with no issues up until this point, so this happened completely out of nowhere. The fight left both of them needing emergency veterinary care and multiple stitches. As their person, it has been heartbreaking to see them hurt and to face the reality that our home has changed so quickly. We love them both deeply, and right now our focus is on helping them heal while doing everything we can to understand what caused this to happen.

The emergency vet bills were a significant hit for us financially, as my husband is the only one employed due to the health issues our son suffers from and my need to be available for him at any time. I am asking for help with the future costs that are still ahead, including thorough health checks for both dogs, any testing their vet may recommend to look for underlying issues, and the cost of working with a behaviorist. My hope is that with professional guidance, we can better understand what caused this fight and create a safe plan to help Moose and Chomper peacefully live together again one day. Any support means so much to us as we recover from the strain of the emergency care and prepare for the continued veterinary and behavioral support they need. *Side-note: Our first priority is making sure Moose and Chomper get the medical care and behavioral support they need (obviously). We’re still at the very beginning of all of this, so we don’t yet know whether any funds will remain.
 If there IS money left after providing for those needs, it will go towards helping us make our home safer and better suited to both dogs, with any remaining balance helping with everyday family expenses.
 Like I said - there is a chance that we will run into issues that call for very drastic/expensive solutions and it’ll quickly add up, but I also want to be open about that possibility so everyone can make an informed decision about donating since we are about to reach the goal. For now, it’ll all be set aside and used as needed while we continue on the path to finding answers. Your support means more to us than we can put into words. ❤️
