I'm reaching out on behalf of my amazing sister and brother-in-law, Lauren and Zach, whose sweet 3-year-old Shih Tzu, Marvin, is in need of a life-saving surgery. They were reluctant in allowing me to set this up, but the cost has far exceeded what they were expecting, and they are desperate to save his life.
Marvin has been diagnosed with a congenital liver shunt (portosystemic shunt), a life-threatening condition where toxins are bypassing his liver and poisoning his system. It’s currently causing terrifying seizures requiring medication administered every eight hours. Unfortunately, given his small size, the seizure medication isn’t helping. If he doesn’t have surgery, his condition will worsen, the seizures will increase, and the medication he’s on will eventually cause organ failure.
Why We Need Your Help
The good news is that this type of liver shunt is often fully correctable. This surgery offers Marv a full recovery and a long, happy life. Lauren and Zach have already depleted their savings on vet bills, scans, and medications. To make matters more stressful, Zach is a federal government employee. He is on furlough due to the government shutdown and is not currently receiving pay.
Our Goal
Zach, Lauren, Vi, and Kepler love Marvin so much and want nothing more than to be able to save his life and ease his suffering. Marvin currently needs a CT scan, the complex shunt surgery, and post-operative ICU care.
How You Can Help
Every donation, in any amount, helps them close the gap and schedule this life-saving operation. We know times are tough for everyone, and if you aren’t able to donate, just sharing Marvin’s story can help spread the word and would be so appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my sister, Zach, and the kids save their Marv. He is the best boy, and we all love him so much. We will post regular updates on his progress.
