Help Laurel Bretzman Fight ALS and Plan for End of Life

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,

We, the children of Laurel, reach out to you with heavy hearts and a plea for help. Our beloved mother has recently been diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a devastating, progressive and terminal neurological disease. This diagnosis has turned our family's world upside down, and we are now facing overwhelming challenges.

The progression of her illness has created a need for specialized care and equipment. Our parents are in the process of moving closer to us children for essential assistance and support.

When this campaign started, our father had been laid off from his job, resulting in the loss of our parents’ crucial health insurance and income. Our dad just now received an offer for a new job to restore income and insurance. Our mother is also in the process of applying for Medicare because of her disability. While this was a blessing, many out of pocket costs and challenges still remain.

Here are some of the critical challenges we are facing:

*Medical Expenses: ALS requires ongoing costly medical & personal care, therapies, and medications.

*Moving expenses: The diagnosis and medical needs required that our parents move closer to their children in order to receive physical and emotional assistance. This had to be done at a time where the market was not the most forgiving on home sale price vs. new home purchase price.

*Accessibility: Mom needs a wheelchair ramp, enlarged doorways, an accessible bathroom, and other home renovations to ensure her safety and mobility.

*Essential Equipment: Specialized medical equipment, such as assistive devices, are vital for her care, comfort, and quality of life.

For our entire life, mom and dad have been the most giving and loving people we know, selflessly caring for our large family and aging grandpa, and always putting others before themselves. Our mother has always been our greatest supporter of our personal journeys, always putting the comfort and well-being of others ahead of her own.

We are humbly asking for your support to help us return the grace our mother has shown us and others her entire life.

We ask that you help us provide mom with the care and resources she needs. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in her life, giving her a better quality of life to find peace and enjoy family during this difficult journey.
