Help Laura Wahpepah Through This Difficult Time

Hau Friends & Relatives,

We are writing on behalf of our family for support with “What Dad himself would want”, which would be to ensure that his wife Laura Wahpepah is covered and taken care of during this difficult time. Now that Dad (Fred Wahpepah) has gone Home to the Spirit World his wife Laura is losing 75% of the household income. She also has incurred debt over this past year from medical and other related expenses that MediCare and the Tribe did not cover. Laura herself is deeply grief-stricken with the loss of her husband, the love of her life, and her best friend whom she spent every waking hour with. They were each other’s world. So we are reaching out for your help and support to offer what you can to help us reach this goal so that she can take care of her mourning while making ends meet and be able to cover bills including medical debts not covered by insurance & other basics while she figures out what living adjustments are next for her. We thank all of you in advance for your good hearts and consideration of this worthy cause. We know that Dad carried this concern for his wife throughout his later years. Laura was more than just his wife: she was his medical advocate and his champion battling doctors and hospital administrations to ensure his quality of care. She was his full-time caregiver and covered all of his nursing needs with his advanced Parkinson’s disease which ultimately resulted in his complete incapacitation and immobilized him to a bed. He was her beloved husband as well as her full-time job 24 hours a day seven days a week for nearly two decades increasingly as his health declined. As such she

has no reserves to fall back on during this especially difficult time. She blessed all of us by keeping him healthy which allowed for many more years of life with him. So we are reaching out in hopes of providing both of them with the peace of mind that we all would want for both of them here on Earth as well as in the Spirit World…
