Hey there, thanks for checking out my tuition fundraiser! Here's a bit about me and why I'm raising funds to pay for school.

I'm Laura, and I'm starting my Master's program in Career Counseling at Sacramento State University. Why career counseling, you ask? Because career and mental health have been the biggest areas of transformation in my own life, and I want to pay it forward by helping others overcome the same issues that I have.

It's no secret that most people today are STRUGGLING when it comes to their careers, finances, and mental health. Between ever-increasing wealth inequality, rising costs of living, climate change, and social media showing us atrocities around the world, it's no wonder that people are losing hope about their futures.

The MS in Counseling program at Sac State prepares me to become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, meaning that when I become licensed, I will be qualified to help people with all sorts of mental health issues beyond the scope of career matters. My future clients may come to me seeking support through layoffs, career transitions, or difficult bosses; but as an LPCC, I will be able to treat underlying mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc. that negatively impact my clients' ability to pursue their dreams.

My greatest career mission is to become obsolete. I'm working towards a world where every person has a fulfilling career, with sustainable work-life balance, making enough money to support their present and future. A world where financial education isn't overwhelming, confusing, and shaming; and people have the tools to make daily decisions in line with their values and goals. A world where we actually work to live, instead of living to work.

I am committed to graduating debt-free, because without student loans, I'll be able to offer my counseling services at a more accessible rate when I become licensed. Luckily, my debt-free goal is well within reach: thanks to a very generous grant from Sac State, I am only responsible for $1,000 out of pocket per semester during my first year! (Thank you, California taxpayers!)

If I reach my fundraising goal of $1,000, my entire first semester will be paid in full.

If I raise $2,000, my entire first YEAR will be paid in full.
