Hi, my name is Laura. I’m 41 years old, a proud mother of five and a grandmother. In December 2024, my life changed overnight when I was diagnosed with both breast cancer and lung cancer.
Since then, I have undergone a double mastectomy and surgery to remove half of my lung. I am incredibly grateful to be here today, but the physical and emotional impact of everything I’ve been through has been overwhelming.
After completing my treatment, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, I was told I would need to wait six months before discussing reconstructive surgery. When I finally met with a consultant, I was informed that my only option would be DIEP flap reconstruction, and due to scar tissue, I would not be referred for any alternative procedures.
I am now reaching out for help because I want to feel like myself again. The loss of my breasts, my hair, and being forced into early menopause has deeply affected my confidence and mental health. I struggle to leave the house and often feel disconnected from my own body.
I am hoping to raise funds to explore other reconstructive options and regain a sense of normality, confidence, and femininity after everything I’ve endured. Any support, whether through donations or simply sharing my story, would mean the world to me.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any kindness you can offer.
