Hello, my name is Laura Castaño. I’m originally from Colombia, and since I was a child, it’s been my dream to study abroad and grow in a place with strong Christian values. By God’s grace, that dream came true. I am now pursuing my Master’s in IT and Management at Dallas Baptist University, where I have found my purpose in combining faith, leadership, and technology to serve others.
My journey hasn’t been easy. After finishing school, I did not know what path to take, but through my church in Colombia I found Christ for the Nations Institute, where my life was transformed and I first heard about DBU. I knew God was calling me there, and He opened the doors. Since coming to the States, I have faced challenges like being far from home, adapting to a new culture, and managing finances on my own, but I’ve also seen God’s hand guiding me every step of the way.
God has placed a deep calling in my heart to serve others beyond my own journey. My dream is to create a nonprofit or movement focused on helping women heal, encounter God where they are, and walk confidently in the purpose He has given them. I also carry a burden for people in the workplace who feel stuck or without purpose, wanting to remind them that their identity is not just in what they do, but in who they are in Christ. I believe God can use both ministry and technology to reach people, restore hope, and transform lives.
As an international student, my resources are limited. My family has faced very difficult circumstances in Colombia, including extortion threats that forced them to relocate and start over. Because of this, they are unable to support me financially. I work on campus to cover my living expenses, but I still owe eight thousand dollars for this semester.
I’m trusting God’s provision, believing He called me here for a purpose. Your support will help me stay enrolled and continue pursuing the mission He’s placed on my heart.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and generosity. Every gift makes a difference and helps me move one step closer to completing this journey in faith.
