Hi everyone if you are here you've either followed me on social media or found this post via there. I'm Laura or you may know me as Finch. I'm a 31 year old Trans woman who has been completely wracked with debt because of the IRS. The long story short is that we believe due to how ko-fi processes donations to paypal I was being marked as collecting self employment income which I obviously wasn't as all my posts and even ko-fi say "donation". The unfortunate thing as with most dealings with the IRS is that I have to pay up front and then try and be refunded later. Thats what the letter says, thats what every advisor I've spoken with says, and thats basically the only path forward. I have needed donations for some time over the years because we are a single income household due to a variety of factors but also Covid took a tremendous toll on us financially. We were forced to move out into a slum apartment and during that time I maxed out a credit card. This debt started the entire spitballing. The rent was enourmously high and I worked a warehouse job that JUST paid rent and so utilities and everything stacked and we turned to donations. That is the spark that led to now. We need $12,700 to pay off the IRS and get me set there so that we can actually have a chance to rebuild our life. This is taxes for tax years 23-26 thats why the debt is so high. I have been on a payment plan but I accrue interest and then they added that $5,047 additional tax that was for "self employment".

"Goals" or I guess Steps:

$7100 is the owed taxes, non disputable. If I reach that amount I will transfer funds to pay those off.

The remaining $5047 will then be easier to payment plan allowing more time for those final funds to be raised. Those will be the only times I transfer from here as my show of respect to everyone who is donating for this singular goal.

I have additional debts I am not counting in this total, namely back payments on utilities, and the credit card debt that started all this. I don't feel its fair to beg for a full bailout so I want to be able to clear this debt so I can face those. Thank you for giving me and my partner a chance.
