Help Laura Mulcahy Make A Groundbreaking Record

Hi there everyone,

My name is Laura Mulcahy and I am a multi disciplinary artist from Ennis, Co. Clare.

Since my first release in 2017, I have developed my career from complete obscurity as a musical artist to my last single, in 2021 'The Ballad Of Lucy Sands' being played on over 100 radio stations around the world, been reviewed in music magazines and I have played major music festivals.

To date my work has been self funded, funded by two successful crowd funds and also by a movie director. (The Ballad Of Lucy Sands was written for a film). This year I want to be able to accomplish the recording of my third studio album, which I have titled Sub Nubibus Margarita.

I write about everything - from the noisy dog next door, to the man next door, who murders his whole family, to the Irish Famine, to the role of the media in modern life. I am continually inspired by my environment, be it where I come from, or where I am going to.

I want to record nine new songs of cultural importance with producer Wayne Sheehy. These recordings will be our third collaboration as musician / producer and will be a deepening of our artistic relationship.

Having this opportunity to record this work will help to further establish my collaboration with musician, Sarah Ferrigan, who has played across my previous two records.

Being able record this new work will also help strengthen my working relationship with renouned bouzouki player, Eoin O'Neill, who has so far recorded one piece with me. We will get to explore our musical partnership in more detail on my third record.

My goals with my music for 2022 are:

1. To further expand my music's ability to communicate with my already established audience, and grow that audience further.

2. To bring a collective healing to people by confronting the fact that our planet is Sub Nubibus Margarita (a pearl under the clouds).

3. To bring more radio stations than ever on board to play my music.

4. To produce a beautiful recording, that I can give to people in lieu of all the live concerts I have not been able to play over the past two years.

5. To uncover more of the uncomfortable truths we are not willing to face as a society.

6. To confront our history, which has informed us and in my opinion has made us the (perhaps uncaring and cruel) society we are today.

7. To record a collection of songs the like of which the world has never heard before, that last the test of time for generations to come.

Thank you for reading this far. The truth of all of this is, I am one person from the west of Ireland who has spent the past two years nursing my mother, who has been very unwell. I have not had a day off in over a year and I need to get back to work and do something that shows that I can still make my precious art.
