My name is Melody Russell and I am fundraising to help my dear friend and business partner, Laura Lee Magana, a hard working, single mother of two, win the battle against cancer. For those of you who helped me raise funds in 2020, below is an update written by Laura Lee and the reason we are fundraising again. Anything you can give would be MUCH appreciated!

 

My friends, associates, and team members…

Cancer is a BITCH and yet I still believe in MIRACLES!

 

2020 knocked me off my rocker with multiple surgeries, radiation, and a year of surrender, help, and healing…while the rest of the world was dealing with COVID, business’s shutting down, learning how to Zoom, and then the fires where so many people were affected.

 

2021, I was busy rebuilding my life to a new normal… post cancer, ongoing trips up to UCSF for follow-up tests, doctor visits, and learning how to navigate new territory.

 

October 2021, 2 new cancers presented. November 4th I had another surgery…I’ve cleared marker on both accounts as 1 being stage 1 and the other stage 4.

 

In February 2022, fingers crossed, I will start immunoglobulin therapy. The therapy is new and the goal is that it will teach my body’s immune system to fight for itself. The therapy is a new “trial” and it’s off label. I will have several 6 week treatments depending on how things go and luckily I will be able to self-administer here at home. I am grateful that it is not in my lymph’s nor my bone marrow. My team at UCSF is working hard to understand how to help me and they are amazing!

 

I am grateful to be able to work and continue to thrive with my workouts (boot camps, yoga, dance, and even some aerial) which I have recently returned to and to see my friends and family which brings me great joy!!

 

Surrender and receiving have been ever present in this journey for me and I cannot express how awkward, humbling, and crazy amazing it has felt and feels to be so loved and supported.  I am truly touched by the love, support, and encouragement that I received from this community!

I have amazing meal plans, exercise plans, Eastern and Western Medical resources and referrals, prayers, healthy living strategies, books, a big heart and wide shoulders, you name it, I have it, and would love to share it in order to give back in any way that I can.
