My name is Pedro Escobedo, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for Laura, a 64-year-old woman I recently met who is battling terminal lung cancer and has no family or support system left.
Laura was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer two and a half years ago. Since then, her life has taken a heartbreaking turn. She lost everything — her home, her belongings, and her family. Both her father and sister passed away from lung cancer at the age of 63. Laura is now 64 and fighting the same disease.
For the past two and a half years, she has been living out of a storage unit, doing her best to survive. Recently, the storage manager discovered she was staying there and forced her to leave. Since then, she has been living out of her van, trying to stay warm and safe.
A kind stranger recently paid for one week in a motel, but that week is almost up. Once her stay ends, Laura will be back to sleeping in her van or outside — in the freezing Michigan weather. She takes her chemotherapy through daily pills, and if she stops, her life could end even sooner.
Laura has no friends or family to turn to, and I am doing everything I can to help her find shelter, food, and stability. She deserves to live her remaining time with dignity, warmth, and compassion — not out in the cold.
All donations will go directly toward:
• Paying for her motel or rental room stay
• Food and basic necessities
• Medical costs and medications
If I am able to find her a long-term place to rent (like a small room, basement, or shed), the funds will go directly to the landlord or motel manager to ensure every dollar truly supports her.
Even a small donation can make a huge difference for Laura. Your kindness can give her a safe, warm place to sleep and show her that she’s not alone in this world.
Please donate and share this page to help us reach the goal of $5,000 — and give Laura the comfort and care she deserves in her final months.
Thank you for taking the time to read and share her story. ❤️
