Hi everyone, it’s Rob & Laura here.

Back in March, the two of us celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and we had the great news that Joseph, our eldest son, had secured a place with his first-choice secondary school. Life felt normal, full of big family milestones, and we were looking forward to everything ahead.

Not long after, Laura started having bad headaches, migraines and tiredness. We kept assuming it was just stress and maybe the onset of migraines, but things kept getting worse, which culminated in her going into A&E.

In a matter of hours, our world completely changed.

After scans at the hospital, they found a large brain tumour and within a week, Laura had emergency brain surgery at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW). We honestly cannot thank the NHS team at UHCW enough—the surgeons, nurses, and staff were so incredible and they looked after Laura so well during the scariest days of our lives.

They managed to remove a lot of the tumour, though some of it has had to remain because it is not accessible without the risk of major brain damage. After some tests, she was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Astrocytoma IDH Mutant, which is aggressive, incurable and life limiting.

It was an absolute shock.

But her specific tumour type is more responsive to treatment—and that gives us something positive to hold onto.

Who is Laura?
Laura is the heart of our family. She’s 36 years old, a beautiful wife and a loving mom to our two boys, Joseph and Max, aged 11 and 8.

If you know Laura, you know how much she puts into everything she does. She has spent her entire life working with children, and for the last five years, she’s been working at a school caring for children with severe special educational needs.

She’s someone who cares deeply, and gives all her patience, time, and energy to help other people every single day.

Why We Need Your Help
Laura has recently finished an intense 6-week course of daily radiotherapy alongside chemotherapy and is now moving onto her next phase of treatment, which will be a minimum of 6 months of chemotherapy at home.

However , other than that, standard NHS options are very limited and unfortunately with this type of cancer, even after the standard treatment the tumour will progress and no one can predict how quickly.

With that in mind, we have been researching supportive treatments which led us to finding Oncothermia, which is a specialised hyperthermia treatment based in London with Dr. Paul Mulholland.

It works by heating the tumour to stimulate the body’s immune system and make cancer treatments like chemotherapy more effective, which could also help delay tumour regrowth and support overall treatment response, with fewer side effects.

This treatment is not available on the NHS, but it is one of the recognised adjunct therapies for high-grade brain tumours.

As this treatment is available here in the UK, Laura can receive it without the stress, exhaustion and cost of traveling abroad.

Treatment Plan

Course 1 — Starting early November 2026
This will begin as Laura starts her 6 months of home chemotherapy.
• 6 sessions in the first month
• Then 3 sessions per month, for 5 months

Course 2 — Extension or future recurrence
• Because of certain biomarkers in Laura's tumour, it is likely that the initial round of NHS chemotherapy treatment may be extended from 6 months up to a maximum of 12 months, so an additional 6 months may be needed.

Even if not immediately needed, future recurrence is inevitable with her type of cancer and when that happens, a second 6-month course of treatment is recommended, and securing this now would mean she can restart therapy again straight away.

The estimated total cost for the two treatment cycles is £50,000.

This includes two rounds of hyperthermia treatment and specialist consultations.

All funds raised will go directly toward Laura’s genuine treatment related costs, including medical consultations, treatment sessions, travel and accommodation.

Making Memories & Protecting Our Family
Beyond getting Laura the treatment she needs, this is about keeping our home life stable and positive for the boys. They're at such important ages, and we want to protect them from the stress and worry as much as we can. We want to fill the coming months with happy memories, laughter, and quality time together with their mom.

We accept that there is no cure, but there is an opportunity for more time - and we really need that

Laura desperately wants to be there for as many birthdays, Christmas’s and family milestones as possible, and watch the boys grow up into fine young men.

How You Can Help
We know things are tough for a lot of people right now, but here are some of the ways that you could support us:

  • Donate: Whatever you can give, big or small – it all matters
  • Share: Sharing this link with friends, family, work colleagues, or on social media makes a huge difference in helping us reach more people
  • Leave a message: Reading your words of love, encouragement, and support gives us both so much strength

A Final Message From Both of Us
Asking for money is a really uncomfortable thing for us to do. But when it comes to fighting for more time, more memories, and being here to watch our boys grow up, pride doesn't come into it.

Laura has spent her whole life supporting good causes, getting involved in lots of charity work and quietly looking after everyone else.

Now it’s our opportunity to help her.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story, for sharing it, and for helping give our family a fighting chance.

With love and thanks,
Rob & Laura
