Laura and David have always been the first to lend a hand to others, offering kindness and support whenever someone was in need. Now, they are facing an incredibly difficult time and could use that same generosity from their community. While on a three-month vacation in South Africa, David suffered a serious fall just days before they were scheduled to return home to the United States. He broke his femur and will not be able to fly for at least 2-3 months, leaving them far from home and facing mounting challenges.

The unexpected medical emergency has brought a wave of expenses not covered by insurance. They are now dealing with medical and rehab bills, the cost of extended lodging for Laura while David is in the hospital, and hired private carers and additional lodging for both of them once he is released but not yet cleared to fly. On top of that, there are costs for local transportation, medical equipment, medication, and the uncertainty and cost of arranging travel home when David is finally able.

David and Laura are loved by so many. I'm sure those of you who have already heard of their situation were very concerned and wondered how you could help. It took some convincing for Laura to feel comfortable receiving this type of help from friends and family.
