Laura, David & Cats Still Need Help Replacing Home Fire Loss

Donation protected
MOST OF ALL, we really need the use of a spare room, finished or semi-finished basement or similar for a month or 2 so we stop bleeding over $600 a week on hotels or rentals. We CAN contribute some nominal $$$ (+/- $300?) and help cleaning, cooking, errands, etc. and expect to! An apartment or house share could work if you know of any that would accept the 2 of us with our beloved cats! We are working on landing affordable, subsidized housing but it is tedious and slow. We ARE on the top of the Massachusetts CHAMP lists AND we are going to bite the bullet on a counselor’s advice and add Section8, even though Laura has fears about what “housing” means. I say: please, Higher Power, just get us OFF THE STREETS and out of hotels and short-term rentals we simply cannot afford! We may start looking at what subsidized options may exist in New Hampshire.

As you may know by now, my beloved wife Laura (handicapped) & I (74) survived a devastating apartment fire at our Fitchburg, Massachusetts place back in early April & are still w/o a home. The two us along with our wonderful cats, Viola & Iris, got out safely due to the speed & heroics of the Fitchburg Fire Department.

The good news is that we had full renter's insurance that will cover most of the losses. The bad news was that our insurance assessor, the cleaners & the movers got delayed for entering for 2 months. Hence most of our relocation money was wasted on needlessly extended hotel stays.

More good news! Happy to be able to say things HAVE improved a bit, thanks to all who came through! Plus, Higher Power graced us with an unexpected refund from Social Security and a modest anonymous donation from a friend. Still stuck in hotel limbo for the moment though…

Immediate needs:
  • remain safely housed until we find new affordable place.
  • Our car needs serious work!
  • Ongoing expenses: medical, cellphones, storage
  • Replacing items lost in fire

A friend who is expert on GFM points out that we have been remiss in in our messaging by not requesting reposts!! Please consider reposting the latest update version (edited if need be) to your own page, Facebook or otherwise or any other appropriate site? And if possible, mention our connection, length of friendship or anything similar? And if you can think of anyone or any organization we should be reaching out to plus places like churches, synagogues or schools that might let us post on their website or bulletin board, please let me know as well!

I say please, Higher Power, just get us OFF THE STREETS and out of hotels and short-term rentals we simply cannot afford! We may start looking at what subsidized options may exist in New Hampshire.
- We have our current hotel in Salem NH through tomorrow Monday AM and the next round of GoFundMe should hit the bank overnight. I am restarting my side gig doing eBay and Internet sales. Also, on the advice of a 12-step friend, I have applied for a recovery job at 2 food stores to start with!

- BUT we are short +/- $1,000 just for the next week before more money comes in from other sources. Please consider donating, even if only $10 or $20 a week, more if you can.
- Our car is in rough shape and barely legal. It needs several hundred or more in just immediate repairs, more needed soon. We need to register in in NH or VT because the insurance in MA is beyond our means!
- PLEASE, PLEASE repost this anywhere and everywhere you can think of. Spread the word!

* Donate according to your preferences by GoFundMe, Venmo, Cash App or PayPal. Just remember that GoFundMe is a little slower and they deduct their modest costs, as is their right to do!

All our Thanks, Gratitude and Blessings from whatever YOUR Higher Power may be,
Laura, David and the cats

VERY IMPORTANT FOOTNOTE!!:
So, a little about us as a friend advised me that some people might think someone else was trying a scam in our name. Nope, I’m the guy once known to most as David ‘db’ Butler, the longtime independent recording engineer/producer around Boston for 2 decades mainly out of Northern Recording Studios in Maynard, (footnote: the Cars formed there and Tom Sholz of Boston was in to record our amazing piano on the track “A Man I’ll Never Be” on the group’s 2nd album and much, much more) ... That followed my falling into the madness that is the music biz in New York, a stint in Stockbridge at Shaggy Dog Studios, notable for the entire posthumous catalog of Jimmy Hendrix getting edited there. Also, my shift from Senior Studio Technical Engineer in New York to music engineer. My greatest pride from those years was the artists, bands, engineers and techs I got to train, mentor and a few times, had a proteges. Many of them went on to succeed in different areas much higher than me!!!
