My name is Laura Cole. I am a profoundly physically disabled person living in Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota. I live with my partner and our cat, Rocket.

Recent happenings in my neighborhood and state have made a target out of Minnesota. The Department of Human Services has suspended all pay for Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) across the state due to a fraud investigation. The Federal Department of Agriculture has suspended all funds for Minnesotans. Dr. Oz has threatened to suspend all Medicaid funds for the state as well.

I am disabled. I am on SNAP. I am on Medicaid. My partner is my PCA and we depend on his income to survive, as Social Security Disability Insurance does not award enough for a single adult to live off of, let alone two people plus a cat.

We will not have enough money for rent. We will not have money for food. We will not have money to keep our heat or electricity on during the harsh Minnesota winter. We will not have electricity to keep my medically necessary hospital bed or power wheelchair in working order.

We are in the most desperate situation of our lives. Please help if you can.

If you cannot donate (which I absolutely understand in today's world of hyperinflation), I would also be highly appreciative of any advice or resources you may be aware of that could help us navigate this frightening road ahead of us. I am under a lot of stress right now and have mentally shut down (my mother is also facing homelessness, as you can see in my other fundraiser) and can't think my way through things as well as I normally would. I am sure there are helpful things that I have not been able to think of myself.
