Help Laura Be There for Her Son After a Devastating Accident
Laura Densmore is a devoted single mother and a beloved math teacher who has spent her life putting others first—her students, her school, and most of all, her children.
She raised two kids on her own, working full-time as a teacher to support them. Through every challenge, she never gave up and never gave less than 100%.
A few years ago, Laura had a serious accident that required a long recovery. Her school district generously allowed her to borrow sick days, but ever since, she’s been repaying them—meaning she hasn’t been able to accrue new sick leave. Around this same time she met her fantastic husband, Dave who has stepped in as father figure and life partner for Laura.
Now, she’s facing a heartbreaking situation.
Last week, Laura’s son, Hunter Petry, was in a terrible motorcycle accident. He is currently in the ICU in Boston, beginning a long and uncertain road to recovery. When he is finally able to return home, he will need full-time care.
Laura wants nothing more than to be by her son’s side and care for him and to support Hunter’s young wife as she navigates all of this. (Hunter and Brooke were married less than a year ago)—but she has no sick time left, and the district’s sick leave bank can’t be used for family emergencies. Her only option is to take unpaid leave under FMLA.
That would mean no income—and likely losing her home.
We are asking for your help. Your donation will allow Laura to take time off without losing everything she’s worked so hard for. Every dollar will go toward covering essential expenses while she cares for Hunter during his recovery.
Please consider donating to support this incredible mother and teacher as she supports her son through the fight of his life.
No amount is too small. And if you’re not able to give, sharing this campaign means the world to us.
Thank you.
