Help Laura and Her Rescue Pets Get Home ❤️

Hi, my name is Laura, and I’m asking for help to get back home to the U.S. with my dog and five cats — my little family.

A year ago, I moved from San Diego to Tulum, Mexico, believing I was starting a new life with someone I loved. I gave up everything — my car, my furniture, my savings — for what I thought was a fresh beginning. But the relationship has become deeply unhealthy, and I need to leave for my safety, my mental health, and my future.

I’m a Pilates Instructor, but here I make less than $500 a month — barely enough to cover rent, let alone food, bills, or pet care. I’ve been doing everything I can to stay afloat, but my savings are gone, and I have no way to get myself and my animals home on my own.

My mental health has suffered greatly here. The medication I rely on for depression isn’t available in Mexico, and I haven’t been able to take it since January. There have been some very dark days, and I know I need to get back to the U.S. where I can get proper care, rebuild, and start again.

When I first arrived, I had my dog and two cats — one of whom passed away earlier this year and my other cat that only had one eye. Since then, I’ve rescued four more cats from the streets, one of which has FIV. There are so many stray animals here, and I couldn’t turn away. They’ve become part of my heart. I promised them safety and love — and I won’t abandon them.

Now, I need help to get all of us home. The cost of flights, pet travel requirements, vaccines, microchips, and basic necessities to start over is far beyond what I can manage. I don’t have an apartment lined up yet, and finding a place that accepts pets is challenging, but I’m determined.

If it were just me, I’d sleep on a couch and figure it out later. But I have six little lives depending on me. They’ve been through enough, and they deserve a safe home — we all do.
